In ten years, or even five, you may no longer feel as you now do. Arya was very highly trained in magic and swordplay during her first thirty years, until she was strong enough to guard Saphira's egg.
She was a master of the sword and as an elf, possessed strength and speed beyond that of any human, save Galbatorix and later, Eragon, Murtagh and Barst. She also possessed a very advanced knowledge of magic: she was able to summon the essence of silver, demonstrating complete mastery of the object something even the Twins couldn't do. She also had the power to smash the Isidar Mithrim, a foot gem, with her sword and hold the fragments in the air after a freefall of nearly a mile to prevent them from crushing Eragon though she fainted from the overuse of magic afterward.
She stated near the end of Eragon that she believed she was powerful enough to defeat a Shade, which she eventually did when she killed Varaug with some help from Eragon, becoming one of four to have killed a Shade and survive. This was due to her training, her skills honed to the extent that she is more fluent with magic than Eragon.
Her magic is green in color, which is shown when she broke the Star Sapphire while preventing the pieces from hitting Eragon. Arya was also very skilled in the use of mental powers. With their enormous combined power, they managed to drive Murtagh away, but could not capture him.
Arya was severely fatigued after contributing so much energy to the effort. Additionally, Arya was one of the four living individuals who had knowledge of the true name of the ancient language. Arya was usually stoic, impassive and reserved, partially as a result of her torture by Durza , and gave no hint as to what her emotions might be.
When she did show them they tended to be very strong. She refused most questions about her past to people who did not know her identity already, treating most of them coldly and indifferently, including Eragon and her own mother, along with a very serious attitude.
Her span of tolerance was short and she frequently became annoyed or impatient with Eragon. She also tended to be opinionated and outspoken, often arguing with and insulting the dwarves because of their difference in beliefs. Before Arya was captured and tortured by the Shade Durza, she was a light-hearted and happy elf woman.
After Eragon saved her, she gained seriousness and wisdom. Arya appeared to hold traditional human gender roles in distaste and reminded Eragon on more than one occasion that she was not a "helpless female". She also mentioned during Brisingr that even after seventy years among them, she still didn't understand why humans believe men and women should wear different things.
Perhaps because of her seventy-year separation from her people and the death of her companions at the hands of Durza, Arya became solitary, aloof, and withdrawn.
She said herself that she had always been of a "solitary disposition". When among the Varden, or even the elves, she preferred not to have company and on occasion, appeared uncomfortable among other elves. Most of the time she kept to herself and out of other peoples' company. After returning to the elves, she opened up more to Eragon and became happier. In Brisingr they talked all night, as well as talked more openly about their feelings and past experiences with each other.
In one instance, Arya healed a minor wound of Eragon's, though he could have easily healed it himself. This showed Arya might be beginning to feel the same way about Eragon that he does for her. Before Eragon and Murtagh engage in Brisingr , she pauses before telling Eragon something important. In Inheritance , Arya reacted positively towards a second fairth made of her by Eragon and exchanged true names with him. In the last chapter of the book, she dropped all pretense for a few brief moments, revealing that she does have feelings for him.
Unlike the rest of her people, she was direct and practical in speech, rarely wasting breath with expressions or similes and was not bothered with the idea of using animal products such as leather. Despite her solitary disposition, she was very dedicated to her people and cause, enduring endless tortures to keep the secrets of the elves out of the Broddring Empire 's hands and even willing to die for no reason other than to deny Galbatorix.
She also seemed to feel a sense of duty in protecting or helping Eragon and Saphira at any opportunity. Arya was described as a stunningly beautiful elf with almond-shaped green eyes, long raven-black hair and tawny skin. She was taller than most men. She wore a sword at her hip and carried her bow on her back. She wore soft elven tunics, felt pants and soft socks in the book she is mentioned to have worn a green tunic cinched at the waist with a girdle adorned with moonstones.
Like most elves, she had angular features, slanting eyebrows, narrow shoulders and pointed ears. She was said to have small feet and slender hands. Arya's family, whose line possibly dated back to Queen Tarmunora , had been in authority for many years. Tarmunora was succeeded by Dellanir , Arya's grandmother, implying that Tarmunora was of the same elven house.
However, Tarmunora could have handed the throne to another royal house. Dellanir ruled for centuries before voluntarily abdicating in favor of her son, Evandar. It is unclear how many family members Arya has apart from her mother: however, Arya has stated that she has no brothers or sisters. The only other member of the same House mentioned and that only in passing, was named Niduen.
The word has survived in modern usage in Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic and Danish where it means 'Queen'. The word drottning in Old Norse shares etymological roots with drottin which means 'lord', 'ruler', 'chief'.
See the link below. Drottin is now out of usage in modern descendants of Old Norse as it was replaced by Konungr , which particularly means 'king'. In ancient Norse, the word "Drottningu" means 'princess' while "Drottning" refers to 'queen. In addition, the structure of the invented Ancient Language is notable.
The grammar dictates that the principal noun precedes the adjective or the helping noun. This is similar to French, Spanish, and Italian Roman languages. Further evidence— Eldest , Bellaen's note to Eragon pg.

Either way, it's a duty many would have avoided. But Slayers keep going. They don't get days off. What will happen next to Arya? Who knows, but it should involve something more than being relied upon as a miniature version of the Hound Rory McCann -- an enforcer with no real power. But if she doesn't want to take the Iron Throne or be some other kind of leader, I hope Arya is allowed to become more than an extremely persistent fighter.
Being the One Who Was Foreseen can not only get old, it can get really lonely. Every Buffy fan knows that -- as is the case with Game of Thrones -- the show had its share of storytelling missteps. But the decision to introduce a large array of Slayers late in Buffy's run wasn't one of them. If Game of Thrones -- or Lord of the Rings before it -- has taught us anything, it's that having brave heroes around doesn't preclude the necessity of collective action.
All things considered, it would be nice if one day Arya could rest, content in the knowledge that she did all she could to save not just the North but all of Westeros and beyond. The gods know Buffy rarely caught a break and maybe Arya never will either although, hey, at least she got true personal agency and a night with Gendry [ Joe Dempsie ], and that ain't nothing.
What I want most for Arya is the same thing I wanted for Buffy: to finally have a sense that she wasn't alone -- that she had others she could rely on, in or out of a crisis. Maybe she already knows that, given that the Hound snapped himself out of his PTSD trance in order to help her and Beric gave his life for her. She had her own little Scooby gang in Sunday's episode, and if many of them are now dead, she's still got the Hound and her sister Sansa Sophie Turner.
And maybe Gendry, though she doesn't seem like the settle-down-behind-the-forge type. He was the first person on her list.
So dead. At a brothel in Braavos, Arya stabbed him in the eyes then slowly stabbed him to death while reminding him who she was. Why: Do we really need to remind you what happened at the Red Wedding?
Before Arya slit his throat, she fed him a pie she made filled with the meat of his sons Lothar and Black Walder. For you. Eragon did his best to comfort her and spontaneously sang a white lily into full maturity from seed to plant: a symbol of all things good, of life and renewal.
Adrift upon the sea of time, the lonely god wanders from shore to distant shore, upholding the laws of the stars above. Brisingr Deluxe, page The trickster, the riddler, the keeper of the balance, he of the many faces who finds life in death and who fears no evil; he who walks through doors. She sent the finished ship sailing along the breeze, drawing its energy from nearby plants. The glyphs were erased promptly with a sweep of her hand through the dirt. Three spirits came to investigate the magical energy that had been used to create the lily and ship.
Arya communicated that Eragon was responsible for freeing the spirits trapped in Durza. In thanks, the three orbs transformed the lily into living metal gold.
Eragon and Arya finally made it back to the Varden. Shortly after, the Battle of the Jiet River took place. Arya and the twelve elven spellcasters pooled their energy to give to Eragon while he and Saphira dueled Murtagh and Thorn. The red dragon and Rider retreated. Ultimately the Varden were victorious, though not without heavy losses; Galbatorix had enchanted the troops to be immune to pain, so it took a lot more to disable them.
Soon after, Roran and Katrina married, and many individuals contributed to the celebration. It was a lovely ceremony. Eragon then left the Varden camp so he could witness the election of the new dwarf monarch, following the death of King Hrothgar.
Saphira later joined him so she could repair Isidar Mithrim. Afterward, the two headed off to Du Weldenvarden to complete their training. The Varden, meanwhile, approached Feinster. Eragon and Saphira arrived just in time to rescue the two elves, and their combined efforts opened the gates. Eragon, Saphira, and Arya tracked down Lady Lorana, only to find the three magicians, who then successfully created the Shade Varaug. Arya was just able to kill the being with the help of Eragon, releasing dozens of spirits, which escaped through the walls.
The Varden conquered Belatona next, with Arya at the front lines. Saphira was wounded with the Dauthdaert Niernen, a weapon long thought lost. The Varden appropriated it for future use. Lord Bradburn refused to surrender, so Arya invaded his mind and sent him to sleep.
Just after the battle ended, the werecats offered their allegiance to the cause against Galbatorix. Elain, one of the villagers from Carvahall who had joined the Varden, had an extremely difficulty labor. Arya offered her assistance but was only able to help a small amount because the villagers would not allow her to use magic to sing the baby from the womb. Only simple spells were approved, and those only because Katrina insisted they let Arya do them.
The elf informed Eragon of the problem but advised him not to force the issue as it would only cause anger and suspicion. Arya would never allow any harm to come to the child in any case.
The baby, Hope, was born with a cleft palette, so Arya brought her to Eragon; the Rider would have to heal her with a villager observing , because no one would believe it was the same child if she were involved. He did a perfect job, garnering further respect from Arya. Eragon and Arya began sparring regularly to prepare him for an eventual confrontation with Galbatorix.
She consistently won. Sometimes during quiet moments, Eragon and Arya would speculate on what kind of spells Galbatorix might use against them in a final confrontation.
During one of the these conversations, Eragon asked her what she would do if they were victorious. Dras-Leona proved to be a challenge. When Jeod discovered that there were secret tunnels leading underneath the city, Eragon, Arya, Wyrden, Angela, and Solembum set out to infiltrate.
Wyrden was killed by a trap, and the priests of Helgrind managed to capture Eragon and Arya. They woke up shackled and unable to use magic due to unusual crystals set in a ring around them.
Together, they defeated the high priest of Helgrind and opened the city gates for the Varden Eragon used Aren to displace a large portion of rubble blocking the entry. The elves sang a burial for Wyrden, and Arya went through his belongings, where she found a bottle of augmented faelnirv, which she sampled. A short time later, and already tipsy, Arya went to find Eragon to share the beverage. Its effects were potent, and the two were hardly able to defend themselves when Murtagh, Thorn, and a group of soldiers invaded the Varden camp to kidnap Nasuada.
Arya cleared the drug from their systems with magic, but Nasuada was still taken. The red dragon took flight, then knocked her loose, bathed her in fire, and slammed her away with his tail. Eragon and Saphira dove to catch her, and their foes got away. Nasuada had nominated Eragon to head the Varden should anything happen to her. The Varden leaders were still at a loss as to how to actually defeat Galbatorix. The young Rider immediately summoned Arya and Glaedr to discuss the trip with them, but neither seemed able to remember what they were talking about.
After both Arya and Glaedr were convinced of the truth, it was decided that Eragon, Glaedr, and Saphira would investigate.
