You'll suck, but that won't kill you as fast. Also, try both default and inverted on the right stick. One of them should "click" more than the other, and then stick no pun intended with it and learn from there. Artichoke Sap wrote: I'm going to repeat what I always say when this comes up: Try playing a slower-paced game where the FPS isn't as twitchy, like Skyrim.
You seek Portal. Plenty of time to line up the shots, no rush for must of the game. The best way to learn the controller in my opinion. As mentioned earlier, it is very important to learn strafing, and how to line up shots using both sticks, rather than just relying on the right stick exclusively. I learned way back when a friend said I 'had to try Halo'. By the 3rd or 4th level 3 hours in roughly it felt pretty natural. I've never had issues with games designed for the gamepad ever since and enjoy it in many ways especially when I've got my legs kicked up on the chaise and am super relaxed.
I never really got used to it. I don't play much competitive online on the Box and for Campaign and co-op it is good enough. But FPS games are far and beyond the most difficult to adjust to. Someone else nailed it on the head when they mentioned that you must think of it as a different play style altogether, and to remember that anyone else that you're competing with online also is using the same gamepad as you.
You'll notice you line up your shots differently and will soon start to get a more solid feel for it all. After a few days you'll slowly stop feeling like you're trying to turn while covered in a wet blanket and get a stronger hold of things. Stick with it and it'll get better, just don't expect to ever have quite the same control that you would with a KB and mouse. But you can get used to the controller, consoles use lots of tricks like autoaim to make it easier. Personally, I never mastered it for anything but racing titles.
I'm absolutely godawful with a controller in anything that isn't a sidescroller or racing. As I've mentioned before, though, I've never seen the point in wanting to hamstring myself with it either.
Just as a wheel or controller is far better than a keyboard for e. I got round to it in about days as well - for some games - fighting, racing, platforms, it's superior, but for FPS it's always going to suck. No amount of 'training' is going to take away the fact that you're using a tiny analog stick to aim, as opposed to super precise dpi mice - for FPS it's always going to suck, but if you're playing solo, I guess that might not matter, especially in story mode.
I still enjoy it the most with mouse for aiming as it's fastest and most precise and you can do the 'trick shots' in one go whereas with a controller you usually need to fire one portal, stop, turn around, fire another etc. So even games designed for x controller play best with a mouse, because it's a physically superior device.
Also remember that lots of console games are deliberately designed in such a way that console controls work "better". I was a PC Gamer in , got an Xbox because it looked fun and wanted something to play on my new projector.
I was hooked. First of all Artichoke Sap wrote: Also, try both default and inverted on the right stick. Some people need to think of it as pushing the stick in the direction they want to turn. Others think of it something along the line of 'Tilt your head back to look up'.
So figure this out first. Then do what Migrant Programmer suggested and lower sensitivity and difficulty. The GameCube was my first console, so while I don't remember how long it took me to get used to a controller, I do remember that my thumbs hurt a lot in the beginning. But what could I do? Rogue Squadron: Rogue Leader was just that good.
And while I know you weren't asking for more accessories. If you still find your self unable to get the right sensitivity and speed, maybe take a look at the KontrolFreak sp? I find they help quite a bit. You just snap them on to your xbox controller or DS , and pull them off should someone need to play without them. There is. But this thread is not about which is "better" and it doesn't really matter.
Third person shooters usually have lock-on capabilities, so they're a little more forgiving than your typical first person shooter like a Call of Duty. However, you still have to position yourself where the lock-on will actually work, so it's not challengeless. Once you get used to the lock on, then you can turn it off and try without it. It's like training wheels. The user was banned not sure if permanent from Steam.
Either way, he done both. The comments section was filled with countless users insulting the user who uploaded the fake Half-Life 3. Aside from fakes There were more fakes. Hopefully Valve will get a team to sift through the entries and remove any duplicates.
My final point: The rating system. If you like it, rate it up. If you dislike it, rate it down. Well, on Greenlight it can work the same way. Either way though, I suppose it does represent the general feeling overall. I mean after all, if a game can get users to help it dominate the opposition, chances are it deserves to be supported. It targets independent games and is just generall well laid out. Who knows, maybe a game we see on Greenlight will one day get taken over by Valve itself?
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Half-Life Deathmatch: Source. Half-Life: Opposing Force. Left 4 Dead. Team Fortress 2. This is a list of every Valve owned game that i can think of. Do you see a number three anywhere? Anywhere at all? Why is this relevant? Ickle forum-use talk shows why. But that leaves us with a problem. It no longer plans on episodic content or game releases, but plans to just merge all games into one, and constantly update that one game.
Will they just continue the story in DLC? Maybe I just want a new Half-Life. Not that a game that gives us continuous DLC is ever considered a new game, of course. Just a side note, ignoring Half-Life, the next game I would like to see released from Valve would have to be Left 4 Dead. Hours of fun! Hey all! This is an improvement, sure, but your accuracy will still not be as good as it can be crosshair wise. I did a bit of scouting on the internet, as you do, to find if there is a remedy for fixing this.
Turns out there is. Why is a red dot good for accuracy? The dot makes you have pinpoint accuracy Providing you know you should be tapping at long range, bursting at medium range and spraying at close range.

Every time I see tribes I get excited, there's just so much potential regardless of the system it comes out on. Well, good new for PC gamers like me.
Maybe it's best to keep this one away from the Xbox. That landscape, color pallet, and gun design all remind me a lot of Halo.
I dunno, a readout and such doesn't make it any more of an AR. It looks like a Spinfusor to me. SeriouslyNow said:. I'll second that I think it looks a shit ton like Halo, just the readout of the gun, kind of the geometry, and especially the locale, with green grass, trees, some bunkers, it all just looks stylistically like Halo.
Not that that's a bad thing, but kind of startling. InfamousBIG said:. Did you guys actually play Tribes 2 or Tribes : Vengeance? Both games had large stretches of forested or in T2's case 'green' landscape and bunkers.
Halo took a lot of its landscaping cues from Tribes 2 to be honest. Nope, can't say as I have. Last time I played a Halo Game was Halo 2, to be honest, as well. Tribes: Ascend Winkelpagina.
